The Vida Residential Learning Community supports first-year students by building community, exploring interests, and connecting those interests to academics and careers. Students will engage with peer facilitators, faculty, and staff in self-exploration, and interactive, fun community events designed to delve into the many opportunities a liberal arts education provides students at CSU and beyond.
Vida is open to any first-year student with a major in the College of Liberal Arts as well as Exploratory Study first-year students with a Major Track in:
- Arts, Humanities, and Design
- Education and Teaching
- Global and Social Sciences
- Organization, Management and Enterprise
Vida is located in Parmelee Hall which has suite-style rooms, community lounges, study spaces, and a dining facility.
Vida community members will be required to take IU174B: Questions for Human Flourishing (3 credits) in the Fall 2026 semester. This class is an AUCC 3B: Arts & Humanities class, a requirement for all majors.
Students with a major in the College of Liberal Arts will also be considered for the Boost scholarship. No separate application is required. If you are not awarded the Boost scholarship, you will still be considered for placement in the Vida Residential Learning Community. Students will be notified about the receipt of the scholarship via email by the end of April, 2026.
