The CSU Spur Start Learning Community is a first-year learning community designed for students beginning their Colorado State University experience at the CSU Spur campus in Denver. This community supports students in building strong academic and professional foundations while living at home and completing their first year of CSU coursework at the Spur campus before transitioning to Fort Collins.
Through a cohort-based model, students take selected courses together, engage in hands-on, community-centered experiences connected to the Denver metro area, and participate in regular visits to the Fort Collins campus. The program emphasizes personal growth, intentional transitions, and community engagement, helping students develop confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging.
Students receive personalized support from peer mentors, faculty, and staff, along with opportunities to connect with industry professionals, participate in academic workshops, and attend signature CSU events. The community is designed to foster meaningful relationships, broaden students’ perspectives, and support a seamless transition to the Colorado State University Fort Collins campus in their second year.
