The mission of the Align Scientific Learning Community is to cultivate an inclusive community of scientists committed to improving the health of animals, people and the planet. We fulfill this mission through exploration of identity, values and leadership.

Living: As a Residential Learning Community, students will have the opportunity to live together on-campus in Laurel Village-Alpine Hall.

Learning: Align students will take two academic courses as a cohort in their first year at Colorado State University. The fall course, VMBS192: Scientist Start-Up, will help students to understand and explain their identity as a scientist and formulate a plan for how they will navigate CSU and take advantage of the many opportunities within the college and university to help them grow as scientists. The spring course, VMBS196: DEIJ in Healthcare and Biomedical Sciences will explore issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice across the healthcare industry and biomedical sciences fields.

Eligibility: This community is for incoming undergraduate students majoring in either Biomedical Sciences or Neuroscience as part of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Application: A completed application includes a response to a short essay question. The Align coordinator is happy to review and provide feedback on any essays before submitting via email or during a 1:1 meeting.

All questions can be directed to the Align Scientific Learning Community Coordinator, Karli Hansen at.
